crash course in photography

As you may or may not know, I was commissioned by the Boys and Girls Club to photograph the Summer League Jr. NBA basketball games and their players. When it comes to photography, I am somewhat a novice but let me tell you .... I'm learning pretty quick. For me, learning comes easier to me when I have real life experiences to teach me. Prior to shooting for these games, I did not understand photography speak. Now that I have to learn, I'm starting to comprehend. I read up on what lenses work best as well as what settings work for the quick motion in basketball.

I ordered the 85mm f/1.8D AF. Here are some pictures from the this past weekend.

The thing I love about the 85mm lens is how it blurs out the background. The thing I don't love too much about it is that it does not zoom. After the game, I took my show on the road to a birthday party (pictures forthcoming).

One thing about photography .... it's kind of addictive.
